United Combat League

Local MMA action returns to the Hammond Civic Center this Saturday night. United Combat League (UCL) returns to the storied venue once again to bring UCL: Torres vs. Choate. The Pro/AM event features many great fighters from the Chicagoland area in addition to the contenders from Indiana.

Headlining the event will be UFC veteran Miguel Torres (40-8) and Wade Choate (11-14). Choate is coming off an impressive first round head kick finish over Joey Diehl last August. Standing across from the Canton, Illinois fighter will be Miguel Torres. Snapping his four-fight losing streak, the hand of Torres was raised after his February fight for the first time in nearly three years.

This fight I’m looking to finish this guy, to put him away,” said Torres to reporter Anthony D. Alonzo of the Post-Tribune. His last opponent, Giovanni Moljo, was disrespectful during their fight.

Also scheduled to compete on the card is a bout featuring Lloyd Thornton (1-0) and Miguel Garza (0-1). Both fighters recently made their professional debut, Garza in February and Thornton in March. For Garza he came up short in his debut tapping out to an armbar in the first round. Meanwhile, his opponent, Thornton, earned the referee stoppage in his premiere bout. They will face one another in a bantamweight bout.

We don’t have an official card from the promotion but this is the lineup that we do have:

Unofficial United Combat League Fight Card
Miguel Torres vs Wade Choate
Ryan Hall vs Ryan Hogans
Craig Fruth vs Joshua Lee
Miguel Garza vs Lloyd Thornton
Mike Young vs Joel Bogdan
Ryan Peters vs AJ Masters
Dean Neely vs LaSalle Jackson
Daniel McGing vs Glenn Evans
Josh Medina vs Alex Martinez

Of course, like all events the above fights are subject to change between now and Saturday night. The doors at the Hammond Civic Center are scheduled to open at 7:00PM CT with the first fight slated for 8:00PM CT.
