Jason Butcher victorious in Bellator debut

Jason Butcher of Team Jorge Gurgel took to the cage last night in Chester, WV as part of Bellator 71. Butcher came into the fight with Duane Bastress undefeated in his professional career with three first round finishes at Spartan Fighting Championship. Bastress (5-1) came in as an early favorite in the fight. Any questions of Jason Butcher’s talent were quickly answered. Butcher landed shots early that seemed to hurt Bastress. Bastress landed a take down but that was to his own demise. Butcher, a BJJ brown belt, locked in a tight triangle choke and Bastress tapped out at 1:03 in Round 1. in their recap said that Butcher’s was the best performance on the entire card. Butcher improves to 4-0 with four straight first round stoppage victories.
