Dan Spohn (15-5) has an opponent for his upcoming bout on “Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series,” according to a report from Shawn Bitter on Twitter. According to Bitter, he’ll take on California native Angel De Anda (18-5) in a light heavyweight bout on July 18.

Spohn, who lives in Columbus and trains at Ronin Training Center, is no stranger to the UFC or reality shows. He appeared on season 19 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” making it to the semifinals before being eliminated from the tournament. He made waves by viciously knocking out Tyler King in just 10 seconds in his preliminary fight to make it on the show.

He also appeared on the show’s live finale, where he lost a decision against Patrick Walsh in his official UFC debut. He was cut from his UFC contract following the loss, but since then he’s returned to the regional scene, posting an impressive 7-1 record in fights at both light heavyweight and heavyweight.

Five of those wins have come via stoppage, including a TKO victory over Azunna Anyanwu to claim the CFFC heavyweight title. He’s also claimed the Gladiators of the Cage light heavyweight title, and the IT Fight Series heavyweight title. His only loss in the span was against fellow UFC veteran Rodney Wallace via decision. Spohn has also spent time in Cleveland training with the Strong Style Fight Team and UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic for this bout.

De Anda is no stranger to the big show himself. He competed twice under the World Series of Fighting banner, losing both of his bouts against Tyrone Spong and Krasimir Mladenov. The 32-year-old is currently on a six-fight winning streak, with his last win coming at Tachi Palace Fights 31 in May.

“Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series” will feature five live fights from the Ultimate Fighter Gym in Las Vegas on Tuesday nights, beginning July 11. The first season is expected to run eight weeks and will air live on UFC Fight Pass.

Other notables set to compete include CFFC heavyweight champion Zu Anyanwu (July 11 vs. Greg Rebello), Valor Fights flyweight champion C.J. Hamilton (July 18 vs. Casey Kenney), and flyweight Jordan Espinosa (fight TBD).
