It’s time to dust off that old FloCombat subscription (do online video streaming subscriptions collect dust?), because there are plenty of fighters with Ohio Valley ties in action this weekend.
Long returns to MMA action for the first time since suffering an injury against Ben Rowland early in 2017, but the striking specialist is looking to pick up his fourth career win via strikes. He’s ranked as the No. 6 pro middleweight in Tennessee by Tapology.
Daukaus is undefeated and makes the trek over to Atlantic City from nearby Martinez BJJ in Philadelphia. He’s won all four of his bouts via submission, so you’d think he’ll want to get the fight to the ground early. He’s ranked as the No. 2 pro middleweight in Pennsylvania by Tapology.
Also on Friday, V3 Fights 71 will stream live from Fitz Casino in Tunica, Mississippi.
Headlining the festivities there will be heavyweight prospect Dontale Mayes (5-2) against Kem Oti (2-4).
Mayes has compete twice on Dana White’s Contender Series, including a TKO over Michael Sipe earlier this summer. He’s ranked as the No. 1 pro heavyweight in Indiana.
Mayes hits people really hard and might be the best heavyweight prospect in the sport right now. Make no mistake about it, this is a showcase fight for him and he should provide a highlight reel finish.
Oti looks to snap a four fight losing streak as he makes the trek from Alabama.
Also keep an eye out for former Ohio State wrestler and current MMA Lab product Mark Martin (1-0), who looks for his second career win against Yemi Oduwole (3-1).
Marin has a lot of charisma and is an exciting fighter to watch. His first win took just 91 seconds, so look for him to try to best that time in his second outing.
