Hardrock MMA returns to Elizabethtown this Friday night for its 10-year anniversary event, as Hardrock MMA 104 is set to go down at the Pritchard Community Center.
Mooney competes for the first time since 2010, when he earned a submission victory over Eric Slocum at Hardrock MMA 27. Mooney has spent his time since his last bout as a referee for the KBWC, and has said that this will be his retirement fight.
Itunin hails from Ohio but now lives and trains in Florida. After 13 amateur bouts, he made his pro debut in 2015. He returned to action after a two and a half year layoff in 2018, and picked up his first pro win in his last outing over Ricky Jones Jr. at Hardrock MMA 98 in April.
The co-main event features a rematch with some infamous history, as Branden Bishop (5-2) will face Braedon Ward (3-6) for a second time. In their first meeting at Hardrock MMA 43 in 2012, their bout was ruled a no contest after both fighters fell through the cage door and were unable to continue. The bout earned both some internet fame and was even featured on Tru TV’s “World’s Dumbest Brawlers.”
Bishop has won two of his three bouts since his last time facing Ward, including a TKO over Jeff Holmes in his last outing at Hardrock MMA 102 in September.
The bout was the pro debut for Ward, who has gone on to win three of his nine bouts since. This fight will be his first time in action since May 2017, when he lost a bout via TKO against Adam Assenza at an event in Canada.
Georgia’s Ferrell has earned all seven of his wins via first round stoppage, including his most recent victory over Curtis Mar at Organized Chaos 15 in Kansas in October. He also has wins over veteran Joe Pegg and Danny Aguirre this year. He’s ranked as the No. 2 pro bantamweight in Tennessee.
Indiana’s Thornton looks for his second straight win after submitting Casey Jones at Colosseum Combat XLVI in September.
The night’s fourth pro bout features the pro debut of Nick Maupin (0-0) as he takes on Josh Stanley (0-1). Maupin posted a 7-6 amateur record including wins in his last two bouts. Stanley competes for the first time since coming up short in his pro debut in April 2017.
Hardrock MMA’s Brandon Higdon had high praise for the card in an interview with ProMMANow:
We have a good mix of talent on this event from guys making there amateur debuts to guys fighting at a high level professionally. Elizabethtown is our home it’s where Hardrock MMA started and we plan to celebrate with the fans this Friday night. This is our last event of 2018, but that doesn’t mean I get to rest. We are already working on HRMMA 105 on February 2nd, 2019 in Shepherdsville, KY.
