Tennessee’s busiest promotion is set to kick off its 2019 campaign on January 19, as Valor FC 54 goes down at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. The all-pro event now has four bouts set.
In the main event, top women’s MMA prospects Shanna Young (4-1) and Jessica Borga (1-1) will square off.
Young returned from a hiatus of more than two years to make her Invicta FC debut in September, but she came up short against Lisa Spangler at the event. She represents Knoxville Martial Arts Academy and is ranked as the No. 1 pound for pound female fighter in Tennesse by Tapology.
Borga hails from Florida and comes in looking for her second straight win after picking up a TKO over Hayley Turner in her last outing.
Also representing KMAA, King has alternated wins and losses in his last seven bouts. Most recently, he submitted Nick Jewell in the first round at Valor FC 53 in October. All six of his wins have come via stoppage, including four via (T)KO.
Kentucky’s Wolf has won two bouts in a row, including a TKO over Christopher Jackson at Apex Fight Night 6 in Louisiana in October.
Swanson posted a first round TKO victory in his pro debut over John Hall at Valor FC 53 in October. He had an impressive 8-1 amateur record and is already ranked as the No. 2 pro heavyweight in Tennessee.
Hunsucker hails from the Lexington area and has produced all three of his wins via stoppage. Most recently, he defeated Tim Dunn via rear naked choke at Hardrock MMA 97 in March. He’s ranked as the No. 5 pro heavyweight in Kentucky.
