Kellen VanCamp retains featherweight title at Hardrock MMA 96

Kellen VanCamp (1-1) will take his talents on the road this weekend as he travels to Tunica, MS to make his debut for V3Fights. VanCamp made his professional debut back in April after a highly successful run as an amateur. He was on a massive win streak before making the leap and has since split a pair of fights.

The 21 year old meets a top tier wrestler making his professional debut in Edwin Cooper. Cooper wrestled at the University of Iowa and has since continued his training in New Mexico at Jackson Wink MMA. He is undefeated himself as an amateur.

VanCamp has been a mainstay on the local scene, with two promotional titles under his belt as an amateur  for Hardrock MMA an Colosseum Combat. The 21 year old is  coming off a win back in June over a tough Ethan McGee.

When asked by V3Fights , VanCamp said this,

Edwin Cooper has a good wrestling background and comes from a respectable gym, but I’ve competed against guys like him my whole life. There are two types of wrestlers in the fight game; one who is willing to stand and only uses his wrestling as he has to, and the other one just wants to use his wrestling skills and go to the ground. After we stand up, he’ll be desperately trying to get the fight to the ground and you’ll see which type he is. I’m comfortable everywhere and look forward to displaying my skills against him whether it be a stand up fight or wrestling dominated fight, either is fine with me.”

VanCamp and Cooper meet as part of V3Fights 70 that takes place this weekend at the Fitz Casino in Tunica MS. Stay close to BluegrassMMA for more in the event.
