Hardrock MMA 101 is just under a month away, and the promotion’s Ohio debut now has a pro title fight anchoring the card, as flyweight champion Rob Walker (6-6) will move up in weight to face Jeremy Pender (14-14) for the vacant bantamweight title.
Hardrock MMA 101 takes place on Sept. 1 at the Dayton Convention Center in downtown Dayton.
Walker hails from Dayton, as he looks to build on his victory over Donnie Ballou at Hardrock MMA 99 in June where he won the promotion’s flyweight title. Four of his six pro wins have come via submission, including a heel hook over Ballou. He’s ranked as the No. 4 pro flyweight in Ohio by Tapology.
Vision MMA’s Pender has hinted that this could be his last pro MMA bout, as he makes the trek up from Cincinnati. He has alternated wins and losses in his last six bouts dating to 2016, including a win over Charlie Stanford at Hardrock MMA 91 last year. His most recent outing was last December, when he was submitted by Will Martinez Jr. at an event in Pennsylvania. He’s ranked as the No. 7 pro featherweight in Kentucky.
A second pro bout at the event will feature Stanford (6-10) taking on Van Vo (3-9).
G-Force’s Stanford looks to snap a five-fight losing streak, with his last win coming via TKO over James Ballinger in 2015. After starting his career 5-2, he’s just 1-8 in his last nine bouts, beginning with a loss to Cody Garbrandt in 2014.
After starting his career 1-9, Vo has won back to back fights in the first round, including a knockout of Kellen VanCamp and a submission over Blayze Rodgers under the Colosseum Combat banner.
