IT Fight Series 83

IT Fight Series 83 is set to go down at Hollywood Casino in Columbus, Ohio on Friday night, and the 15-bout card is set, including five pro fights.

In the main event, Mike Mason (3-0) will look to extend his unbeaten record, as he faces Aaron Highbaugh (6-2).

Columbus native Mason has reeled off three first round finishes since making his pro debut almost exactly one year ago. Most recently, he stopped Davis Oracio Jr. via TKO in the first round at Alliance MMA in March. He’s ranked as the No. 5 pro middleweight in Ohio by Tapology.

Indiana’s Highbaugh has suffered two straight losses after starting his career 6-0. After losing his welterweight title to Cameron VanCamp at Colosseum Combat XLII, he also lost via TKO against Que Parks at Colosseum Combat XLIV in April. He’s ranked as the No. 6 pro welterweight in Indiana.

The co-main event pits former Ohio State track star Matt Comer (2-2) against Leroy Johnson (7-2) at heavyweight.

After losing his first two pro bouts, Comer has picked up back-to-back TKO wins, including a second round stoppage over Bradley Schott at IT Fight Series 73. This will be his first time in action since June 2016, as he looks to improve on his No. 8 heavyweight ranking in the state of Ohio.

Michigan’s Johnson had lost two straight bouts before topping Raymond Lopez at King of the Cage: Supremecy. This will be his first fight since April 2017, as he’s ranked as the No. 4 pro heavyweight in Michigan.

Middleweight Lance Phillips (2-0) also looks to remain unbeaten, as he will face Robert Gidron (3-1).

Phillips has earned a pair of stoppages via strikes in his first two pro bouts, including a knockout of Gregory Sizemore Jr. at Alliance MMA in March. He’s ranked as the No. 7 pro middleweight in Ohio.

Midwest Training Center’s Gidron comes in off of a decision win over Josh Fremd at Pinnacle FC 16 in March. He’s ranked as the No. 8 pro middleweight in Michigan.

Jake Miller (2-0) is another undefeated fighter looking to stay that way as he takes on Chicago’s James Sanchez (1-2).

After an 8-3 amateur record, Columbus’ Miller has picked up a submission and a TKO for his pro wins. He is ranked as the No. 8 pro lightweight in Ohio. Sanchez looks to snap a two-fight losing streak in his opponent’s hometown.

The fifth pro bout features Travis Hussey (3-3) vs. Warren Roberds (1-1).

Hussey has won three of four bouts after starting his career 0-2, and is ranked as the No. 17 pro welterweight in Ohio. Roberds fights for the first time since suffering his first pro defeat against Josh Fremd at IT Fight Series 74 last July.
