Dan Spohn gets opponent for PFL 5 in New York

Ohio native Dan Spohn (17-5) will make his second appearance for the Professional Fighters League, as he will face Artur Alibulatov (19-3) at PFL 5 this Thursday in Uniondale, New York.

The main card of PFL 5 airs on NBC Sports Network, but Spohn’s bout will be featured as part of the prelims and will stream via Facebook.

Spohn is currently tied for fourth place in the PFL light heavyweight standings after a third round finish of Bozigit Ataev in his debut at PFL 2 in June. Vinny Magalhaes and Maxim Grishin are tied for the lead with 6 points each, while Sean O’Connell has 5 points, and Spohn is tied with Rakim Cleveland and Brandon Halsey with 4 points. The top 8 fighters make the playoffs after the conclusion of the regular season this fall.

Spohn has won five straight bouts and is 9-1 since appearing on The Ultimate Fighter 19 in 2014. He has a dozen wins via stoppage, including 7 via knockout or TKO.

Russia’s Alibulatov makes his PFL debut and competes for the first time in the U.S., as he’s spent most of his career competing for Russian promotions ProFC and M-1 Challenge. He has 13 wins via stoppage, including 9 via (T)KO.
