“The All-American Kid” has won three straight bouts since losing back-to-back fights against top level prospects. The former Valor Fights middleweight champion knocked out Travis Davis in just 6 seconds at Justified Defiance Fight Series 5 last March, and followed up with a decision win over Robert Hale at Valor Fights 45 in October following recovery from a motorcycle accident.
In March, he traveled to Jordan, where he earned a split decision over Paweł Kiełek at Brave 10.
The 21-year-old is ranked as the No. 1 pro welterweight in Tennessee according to Tapology and is ranked No. 5 in the Southeast.
Wheeler becomes the third fighter with Ohio Valley ties set to compete on the Contender Series this year, joining Ohio’s Chris Curtis and Indiana’s Austin Tweedy.
