Mark Slater and Colosseum Combat return tomorrow to the Kokomo Conference and Events Center for a a deep card of familiar names and action. The event will feature four professional fights with the night being headlined by Cameron VanCamp defending his professional welterweight title against Thomas Gifford.
VanCamp captured the title by besting Aaron Highbaugh back in December. Cameron has been impressive in back to back wins but will meet a tough Gifford who hasn’t lost since 2016. Gifford is on a three fighting winning streak including a win over Colosseum Combat veteran Tom Shoaff.
It’s not unusual now to have multiple VanCamps on the same fight card. Kellen VanCamp will make his awaited professional debut against Van Vo. Kellen ran the table as an amateur, collecting titles in two promotions as well as winning 10 straight fights.
The white trash legend himself Bobby Emmons has dusted off retirement for maybe the 13th time to square off against Zachary Edington. Emmons is one of the best characters in the fight game and has been building a successful empire with his role at Nice Guy Submission Fighting. Edington will be happy that he has an opponent just to show up. His last fight came in June of 2017, a win over Ronez McGrady insiede the Colosseum Combat Cage.
Reaction MMA’s Que Parks will make his way to Kokomo looking to shake off a loss as he meets a fellow standout Aaron Highbaugh. Both men are trying to get back in the win column and the welterweight co-main event postures the winner to be back in the running for a contendership wherever they go.
Mark Slater has added UFC legend Chris Lytle to the broadcast team as well as loading up the amateur side of the card. The fun begins Saturday April 21st at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are still available.
