This Friday night, Jeff Hughes (7-1) is set to make his LFA debut at LFA 26, where he’ll challenge Richard Odoms (13-3) for the promotion’s heavyweight title in the main event. The entire event will air live on AXS TV.

Hughes has made his name fighting in Ohio, including a massive spinning wheel kick knockout over Jason Riley at Caged Madness 40 last year that earned him the 2016 BluegrassMMA Pro Knockout of the Year.

Hughes is an Ohio guy through and through, and he talks about how UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt have influenced his career.

“We have two UFC champions right now, and we’re trying to make more,” Hughes told James Lynch.

For the fight against the veteran Odoms, Hughes is excited for the opportunity.

“I think it’s a good matchup for me,” Hughes said. “I always fighting big strong guys better than I fight small wiry guys.”
