Jason Butcher (10-2) will defend his newly won King of the Cage light heavyweight title for the first time later this month, as he is set to face Jesse Murray (5-1) at KOTC: Locked In on Oct. 28 in Philadelphia.
The West Virginia native posted a 5-2 under the Bellator MMA banner from 2012-2015, and he returned to action last year for KOTC after a year and a half off. After knocking out Robert Morrow in just 61 seconds last September, he claimed the promotion’s light heavyweight title with a first round TKO over Bill Hill at a KOTC event in Minnesota in March.
Murray hails from Ohio, where he is the No. 1 ranked light heavyweight in the state by Tapology. He’s also unbeaten under the KOTC banner, with a 9-second knockout over Chad Herrick and a first round submission over Eddie Larrea to earn a title shot.
In the co-main event, Jackson-Wink MMA fighter Bi Nguyen (3-1) will face Lindsey VanZandt (1-0) in a women’s atomweight bout.
Also set to compete at the event is Chris Humes-Mitchell (3-0), a two-time Pinancle FC veteran who originally hails from Philly. He’ll take on CFFC veteran Ryan Cafaro (4-2) in a featherweight bout.
King of the Cage: Locked In takes place on Oct. 28 at the SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia, PA. The event will be broadcast via tape delay on MavTV.
