A bout that was slated to take place at Hardrock MMA 93 this past weekend will instead go down at Hardrock MMA 97 next March. Jamal Mohammed (2-0) will take on Adam Fritz (4-2) in a 140-pound catchweight bout that will headline the event at Heritage Hall.

Two of the top prospects in the state of Kentucky, the bout was announced during Hardrock MMA 93 last weekend. Put simply, Fritz said he’s excited about the bout despite having to wait more than four months, because “this is a main event fight.” The fans in attendance seemed to agree.

Mohammed will look to remain unbeaten as he fights in his hometown. The owner of Lexington Taekwando & Jiu-Jitsu, he also trains at 4 Seasons. After an 8-0 amateur career, he’s picked up impressive finishes in his first two pro bouts. He submitted Brandon Kaiser at Hardrock MMA 89, and then knocked out James Adcock in the first round at Hardrock MMA 91 in July. The original bout was cancelled due to a nasty cut that he sustained in training, but he said he’ll be ready to go for the bout after healing up.

Fritz represents AFS Academy in nearby Richmond, Kentucky, and he’ll look for the fifth submission win of his career. After a 3-0 start, he dropped back to back bouts via decision. But he returned with an impressive kimura win over veteran Jeremy Pender at Hardrock MMA 89 in May.
