Premier MMA Championship 4

Two of the top three heavyweights in Kentucky will square off this weekend, as Ben Rowland (2-0) is set to face Ron Fields (25-31-1) for the inaugural heavyweight title at Premier MMA Championship 4.

The 41-year-old Rowland, who is ranked as the No. 2 heavyweight in Kentucky by Tapology, already has one promotion’s heavyweight title, as he stopped Dustin Long to claim the Warrior FC heavyweight title in May. The win was his second via knockout, as he stopped Doug Williams in just 16 seconds in his pro debut.

“This Sat night this is what it’s all about,” Rowland said as he posted a picture of the Premier MMA heavyweight title on Facebook.

The 42-year-old Fields has 57 pro fights compared to Rowland’s two, and he is ranked as the No. 3 heavyweight in Kentucky. The Dayton, Ohio native is unbeaten under the Premier MMA banner, as he has picked up wins over Jordan Mitchell and Joshua Thorpe earlier this year.

Two other pro bouts are also set for Premier MMA Championship 4, as Cody Gabelman (5-2) will take on Lloyd Thornton (3-7) in a bantamweight bout, while Jeff Mack (0-3) will square off against Kwinn Davis (1-6) at featherweight.

Gabelman is the No. 1 ranked flyweight in Ohio and No. 2 in Kentucky, but he’ll move up a weight class to face Thornton here. The 23-year-old has won his last two bouts, but he’ll compete for the first time since topping Zakk Smith via submission at AAMMA 46 last April.

Thornton comes in from Indiana, and he looks to snap a five-fight losing streak after starting his career with a 3-2 record. In his last outing, he was submitted by Blaine Shutt at Art of War Cage Fighting One in April in Pennsylvania.

After posting an impressive 11-3 record as an amateur, Mack looks for his first win as a pro. This will be his first bout in 17 months, as he was submitted by James London in his last outing at Hardrock MMA 78 last April.

Davis will fight for the first time since 2013, when he was submitted by Charlie Stanford at Hardrock MMA 33.

Premier MMA Championship 4 takes place on August 19 at the Radisson Cincinnati Riverfront Hotel in Covington, Kentucky. The entire fight card will stream live via FloCombat. Check out the current card below.
