Hardrock MMA 89 is set to go down at Turfway Park on Saturday night, and 17 bouts are set for the event in Florence, Kentucky.
In the main event, Adam Fritz (3-2) will look to snap a two-fight losing streak as he heads into the backyard of Jeremy Pender (13-12).
Fritz started his career 3-0 but has since suffered back to back losses at the hands of Ronnie Lawrence and Michael Rickets, respectively. The AFS Academy product plans to turn over a new leaf to start a new winning streak in the bout. The newly minted BJJ brown belt has posted all three of his wins as a pro via submission.
Pender has won three of four bouts, including a victory over Ryan Bettingham at Colosseum Combat XXXVIII in February. Of his 13 wins, 11 have come via submission, so he’ll likely be looking to get to the mat as well.
In the co-feature, Donnie Ballou (1-0) will look to remain unbeaten when he takes on veteran Eugene Barrett (3-10).
It took Ballou just 25 seconds to pick up his first win as a pro, as he submitted Dustin Bertch with a guillotine in the first round at Hardrock MMA 84 last October.
Barrett will compete for the first time since 2014, as he looks to snap out of a four-fight losing streak.
Hardrock MMA featherweight champion Jamal Mohammed (0-0) is also set for his pro debut against Brandon Kaiser (1-4).
Mohammed closed out his amateur career with a victory over Shawn Nickell at Hardrock MMA 81 last July. The striker will look to kick off his pro career the same way he ended it, as he compiled an unbeaten 9-0 record.
Kaiser will look to snap a three-fight losing streak. His lone pro win came in 2015 at a Global Proving Ground event.
In a pro middleweight bout, William Ewers (1-1) will face Charles Dove (1-2). Ewers looks to move his record above .500 while Dove fights for the first time since 2012.
In the final pro bout, Renje Loving (1-0) will look to remain unbeaten as he takes on Tony Parker (13-14). Loving was victorious in his pro debut, as he topped Chris Crawford via decision at Hardrock MMA 80 last June. Parker has been to a decision just three times in his career, but he’ll be looking to snap a two-fight losing streak in this one.
