Results – Hardrock MMA 88: James London vs. Lloyd Thornton
Hardrock MMA makes its return to the Derby Park Expo Five Center in Louisville, Kentucky for Hardrock MMA 88. Headlining the event will be a professional lightweight bout between two Kentucky fighters, Ruben Warr (6-8) and Braedon Ward (3-4).
Originally scheduled to headline the event was a flyweight bout between Area 502 prospect James London (3-1) and Indy Boxing & Grappling fighter Lloyd Thornton (3-6). “Well sad news. My fight is canceled. Opponent is having issues,” Thornton posted to Facebook last night. It is not known at this time what forced London off the card.
Riding a three-fight winning streak, Ward looks to continue his recent run of good fortune. When he started his professional career back in 2012, the Billy Scott Catch Wrestling fighter dropped his first four fights. Not letting the string of bad luck deter him from his love of fighting, Ward continued training. The hard work has paid off for the Hardrock MMA veteran.
Much like his opponent, Warr steps back into the cage with back-to-back wins including a decision win over Ian Lawler at Hardrock MMA 86. The AFS Academy fighter is ready to battle still despite Ward not making weight. “So my opponent doesn’t make weight either he didn’t prepare himself like he should have or just didn’t even bother to try or maybe both but he’s gonna learn today son,” Warr posted.
In the co-main event, Erick Florez (2-3) of Griffins Submission will take on Bronx Hill’s Renaldo Weekley (1-1). Weekley is looking to bounce back after a recent defeat while Florez looks to turn his recent success into a streak.
On the amateur side of the card, we will see three title fights. For the promotions currently vacant middleweight title, Michael Taylor (5-8) of Elite Combat will take on Adrian Jenkins (5-3) of Lousiville Combat.
Hardrock MMA 88 will be streamed live and for free on BluegrassMMA.com. Watch the live stream by clicking here.
