Local fighter and fan favorite, Andrew Holbrook (12-1, 2-1 UFC) of Indianapolis, Indiana is set to step back into the Octagon. He will face New York native and undefeated Gregor Gillespie (8-0, 1-0 UFC) at UFC 210: Cormier vs. Johnson 2.
Holbrook picked up a massive upset in his last outing earning the split decision victory over Jake Matthews (10-3, 4-3 UFC). That fight much like this one takes place in enemy territory. Not one to shy away from fighting the local hero’s, Holbrook embraces it.
“I just go fight the hometown guy again – and that’s fine. No matter where I go, if they want me to fight somebody in their home town, it’s another fight,” Holbrook told Matt Erickson of MMAJunkie.com.
Gillespie will be stepping into the cage for the second time. He made his UFC debut last September where he went the distance with Glaico Franca at UFC Fight Night: Cyborg vs. Lansberg. Prior to the UFC, Gillespie called the famous Ring of Combat home. There he went undefeated and claimed the promotion’s lightweight title.
Holbrook’s fight will be the featured bout of the UFC Fight Pass preliminary card which begins at 6:15 PM. If all the fights go as expected before him, we could see his fight start around 7:30 PM.
