With 24% of the vote, the 2016 BluegrassMMA Amateur Fighter of the Year is Anthony Romero. This was the closest category, with James Garmany coming up just 19 votes behind Romero with 23.2% of the vote. Tyler Mees took third place with 14.9% of the vote.

It’s hard to believe that the Ontario native Romero is still just 19 years old. He posted a 5-0 record on the year, which included earning titles in the Bizzarro, Pinnacle FC, and IT Fight Series promotions. He also earned wins over Fadi Shuman and Brian Shoffner for a banner year.

With the win, Romero will receive a plaque from BluegrassMMA as well as a feature story on the website this month.
