With the cancellation of Warrior Nation Fight Series 43, Darion Peterson (5-0) and a couple of his teammates were out of a fight. With a little bit of luck, the fighters from Strong Style were able to be rebooked on the same day, at IT Fight Series 48 in Columbus.
Peterson returns to action for his first fight since March of 2015 which he won and improved to a perfect 5-0. He has a pair of wins via knockout, and the former NAAFS champion has also gone the distance three times in his career.
On the other side of the cage will be 6’6″ Fightopia product Erik Vondenhouvel (3-1), who has also had a little trouble finding fights and has had four opponents back out on him. Erik was planning on making his middleweight debut but when his opponent backed out and this opportunity came his way, he jumped all over it. All three of his wins are via knockout or TKO, including a 7-second win in Michigan earlier this year.
Peterson and Vondenhuevel both prefer to strike, meaning that this could end up being a firefight between the two rising stars. The winner of the bout will be the No. 1 contender for the IT Fight Series light heavyweight title.
IT Fight Series 48 airs live on iPPV via GFL for $14.99.
