March is shaping up to be a huge month for MMA in the Ohio Valley. A huge heavyweight battle between Jeff Hughes (5-0) and John Hawk (11-6) is set to headline the upcoming RFO: Big Guns 18 event on March 19 in Mansfield, Ohio. Officials with the promotion confirmed the booking with BluegrassMMA earlier today.

Evolve MMA’s Hughes comes in looking to build on the biggest performance of his career, as he knocked out Jason Riley with a spinning wheel kick at Caged Madness 40 in January. The video has gone viral and has over 180,000 views on YouTube. He has now finished four of his five pro victories in the first round.

Strong Style MMA’s Hawk looks to get back to his winning ways, as he was defeated in the first round by Denis Golstov in his last outing at an event in Russia last October. Prior to that, “Big John” had won three straight bouts over William Penn, Bobby Brents, and Curt Lemmon. The Bellator MMA veteran makes his RFO debut.

Officials had annouced last month that a lightweight bout between Julian Lane and George Comer would be part of this card, but Lane will instead compete at a CES MMA event in March on the East Coast. Matchmaker Scott Corbin is reportedly looking for a new opponnet for Comer, who is expected to stay on the card.

Big Guns 18 takes place on March 19 at the Richland County Fairgrounds in Mansfield, Ohio.
