Chris Dunn will kick off his 2016 campaign this Friday night in Iowa as part of Victory Fighting Championship. The Ohio native has switched things up in his life and is now fighting out of Iowa. He did take some time to come back to the Ohio Valley and make the rounds at familiar gyms in preparation for this fight. Dunn meets Justin Morrison in a 140 pound catchweight bout.

This will mark the sixth straight year of competition for Dunn (11-7). He started his amateur career back in 2011 and was a mainstay on cards in the Ohio Valley. Chris was a workhorse and at times would step in the cage on multiple occasions per month. His professional career has been an up and down ride. “Kid Dynamite” fought four times in 2015 and came out with a 2-2 record. He did post a notable win over now Legacy FC bantamweight champ Manny Vazquez as well as a dominating performance over BJ Ferguson.

Morrison comes in with an identical 11-7 record and has won four of his last five. Three of those wins came by submission. The 35 year old also had an extensive amateur career before turning pro in 2010. he fought twice in 2015 but closed out the year on a loss to Tim Gorman at MCC 59 back in June.

Dunn, who is always up for a challenge, tells us that he is prepared for three rounds but is looking to finish the fight within the first stanza. “I’m looking to put him away in the first.”.

VFC 48 takes place this Friday night in Urbandale, Iowa and can be viewed live on UFC Fight Pass.
