Hardrock MMA 75 set with middleweight champ Derek Smith

The lineup is set, as one of Kentucky’s longest-running organizations returns to Bowling Green tomorrow night for Hardrock MMA 75.

In the night’s feature bout, middleweight champion Derek Smith (7-3) is set to defend his title against Tavae Lewis (1-2) at 185 pounds.

Smith, a BG Beatdown product, has won his last six bouts after starting his career just 1-3.

All six of those wins have come via strikes, including five in the first round. Most recently, he successfully defended his middleweight title with a second round knockout over Ryan Roark at Hardrock MMA 72 in May. That was after winning the title by knocking out Jeffrey Pearson in just 1:16 at Hardrock MMA 67 last fall.

Lewis, who hails from Chicago, has a verified record of just 1-2, but Illinois does not require all amateur bouts to be sanctioned, so his record is likely different than that.

In the lone pro bout on the card, Braedon Ward (0-4) was slated to face Thomas Kennedy at lightweight, but that fight has fallen off and Ward is currently without an opponent.

Hardrock MMA 75 takes place Holiday Inn Sloan Convention Center tomorrow night. Check out the full fight card below.
