Mark Cherico gets an opponent for PFC 9, will meet…

Mark Cherico

Undefeated Mark Cherico announced earlier today that he officially has an opponent for his upcoming fight. With seven wins and no losses, finding someone to step into the cage has been quite a challenge for the team over at Pinnacle Fighting Championship. After many failed attempts to match the “Pride of Bloomfield,” the search is finally over.

Stepping into the cage against the Fight Club Pittsburgh fighter will be Bellator veteran Brian Kelleher. Training with Team Bombsquad out of Ithaca, New York, Kelleher is ready to bounce back after a recent loss with Cage Fury Fighting Championship. The always explosive, and relentless Kelleher has only going the distance four times throughout this professional career which spans seventeen fights.

Cherico is nearing the top of his division but has yet to break through the barrier that keeps him from getting the national attention he deserves. What he needs to do is show everyone that he is ready for the big leagues by stopping Kelleher instead of going to the scorecards. In his last two bouts he was unable to finish Luis Guerra and Brady Hovermole- these were the only two times throughout his entire career that he went the distance with. He needs to end this fight with Kelleher so the powers that be see he has that finesse to finish fights still.

These two featherweights will meet on November 26, at Pinnacle Fighting Championship 26 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Although the promotion did not officially announce it, we are anticipating this match-up to be the main event- which is something that Cherico is accustomed to.
