In the latter part of December 2013 Hardrock MMA announced the first card to kick off 2014, Hardrock MMA 60 Pro/Am. The event will be held on February 1st in Shepardsville KY. Initially the card was scheduled to host 3 amateur female bouts.
Bartee, eager to make her debut in MMA, prepared for a possible fight November 23, 2013. Knowing of two featherweight matches taking place in Kentucky on the same day, she made the cut and weighed in prepared to step in if an opponent was unable to complete their obligation to compete. Her attempts to be a last minute replacement was not required. Aiming to secure a match, this time Bartee asked early to be scheduled on Hardrock MMA 60.
BluegrassMMA made the announcement that Emily Bartee would face fellow debut fighter Vanessa Cline on the February 1st card in a 145lb match. Unfortunately for Cline, she suffered an injury this week in her camp and has had to withdraw from the event.
With no opponent for Amy Holland available, the women have agreed to fight at 155 despite Holland having already experienced 6 visits inside the cage. Bartee comes in with less experience but she is not a complete novice. In June of 2013 she competed in the TBA international kickboxing tournament were she went 1-1 earning some ring experience. Holland trains at Drive MMA in Ohio and her strength in this fight could be her striking capability. Both of Hollands victories come by way of TKO.
Bartee trains out of the AFS Academy / 10th Planet Richmond and competes regularly with much success on the local grappling competition circuit. With Holland showing her strength to be striking and Bartee coming from a jiu-jitsu background, this could be a battle of striker vs. grappler. The fight takes place February 1st at the Paroquet Springs Conference Centere in Sheparsville, Kentucky.
No word yet on whether Brianna Eberhardt will have an opponent but Bluegras MMA will be on hand ready to update with details as soon as they become available.
