Steve Bell knocks out Robert Montgomery for the interim title

Mt. Sterling – Steve Bell (5-4) faced undefeated Robert Montgomery (2-1) for the interim Spartan Fighting Championship Middleweight Title at SFC 14 this past Saturday. Robert who was the local favorite to win this fight gets knocked out by Steve halfway through round two.

Steve Bell is coming off a close decision loss against Billy Poe with the winner becoming the number one contender. Billy has been absent from Spartan since beating Steve back in February allowing Steve to get back into the mix to fight for the interim title. Steve was very deserving of this title fight against Robert as he was victorious in his previous two outings prior to the Billy fight.

It was a back and forth fight in the first round between these two but the edge went to Robert. Things started off in a similar fashion but early on in the second round Robert throws a kick that connects to the groin of Steve. Steve takes a few minutes to recover from the kick, a needed rest, but as soon as the fight resumed Steve came charging in and landed a few shots which Robert was able to counter but exposed his game a little. Steve saw that and again came forward with a combination that dropped Robert.

Steve is the new interim middleweight champion that will soon face off against current champion Chris Farrington here soon to unify the titles. This will be a great match. Stay tuned as we will bring you all the news once it breaks.
